When you are struggling in life with something, what’s the first thing you do? Do you ask others for their advice and opinions? Do you search endlessly on the internet for the answer? All the answers you need for your life are within you. You have access to a rich inner source of wisdom. Your Higher Self, which is your highest Divine version of your physical self, knows exactly how to help you. All you have to do is ask or begin to listen for your inner voice. The way to connect to your Higher Self is to sit in silence and set your intention. Once you ask for assistance, you need to trust the answer you receive.
If the answer is to take action, you will feel inspired to do so and it is then your responsibility to follow it. Taking inspired action is much different than taking action using sheer human will. You may not know hwy you are being led in the direction that you are, but if you follow it with trust in your heart, you will eventually understand through hindsight. As you begin to connect more and more with your Higher Self, you will find that following your inner guidance will get easier. Life will become more peaceful, loving and definitely more joyful.
Here is a story that some may be familiar with about what happens when we ask for assistance, but then turn it away. It’s the same thing if we ask for assistance and hear our inner voice and then don’t follow the guidance or take action.
The Drowning Man
A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.
Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.”
The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s okay, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.”
So the rowboat went on.
Then a motorboat came by. The fellow in the motorboat shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.”
To this the stranded man said, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”
So the motorboat went on.
Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, “Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.”
To this the stranded man again replied, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”
So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.
Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, “I had faith in you but you didn’t save me, you let me drown. I don’t understand why!”
To this God replied, “I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?”
What action can you take today that you are being guided to take? Listen to your inner voice and trust what you hear!
