I went to my Sunday morning yoga class a few days ago and each week my instructor reads from the Bhagavad Gita, which is a 700 verse Hindu Scripture that “stresses doing one’s duty and having an unwavering faith in God.”
I don’t remember the passage she read, but her interpretation about the importance of living our truth and staying on our own path stayed with me. In fact, this is the place from which she teaches. We are to only do what feels right for us throughout the class regardless of the person next to you bending themselves into a pretzel. Her words about not comparing ourselves to the person next to us or in front of us bodes well in everyday life. This message keeps showing up in unexpected places. I feel like since I started publishing my own words related to this, that this message keeps popping up more and more. Now is a time in our lives that we are being drawn to this more than ever. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is saying, thinking or doing. But only that we stay true to what is right for us.
Allowing others to make their own choices and live their own lives without judgment gives us permission to do the same. And when we live and build our lives on a solid foundation of faith in a Power greater than ourselves, judgments from others will be meaningless, thus allowing us to live peacefully the way we desire. Below is a quote that sums this up beautifully.
Positive Quote of the Day: “What the world needs now is for each of us to be who we truly are, and to bring our gifts into the world. Don’t hold back any longer. Be Present, Be YOU. That is enough. Really it is.” -Nancy Bishop
