When you are doing work you love and have passion for it, you know you are doing work you were meant to do.  Every single person has unique gifts and talents that the world can benefit from.  If you have a yearning in your heart that you keep trying to quiet down, I challenge you to start listening.

Many people go through life not being aware of their gifts or ignoring their true hearts’ desire.  Why?  Fear usually.  Fear of change, fear of the unknown, financial strain, disapproval from family and friends.  But when you continue to do this, your light begins to dim and your world begins to shrink.  I believe depression and anxiety can be attributed to not following your heart.  When you allow fear to enter and take over, your true self gets covered up and you begin to feel the oppressive, dark shadows covering up your Divine Light within.

Sometimes, people resist their gifts and talents, wishing they could be different.  If anyone has ever seen the movie Tinkerbell, this is the premise of the story.  When Tinker Bell was born she went straight to Pixie Hollow.   All of the other fairy’s came to greet her and it was at this time that she had to “choose” her vocation. There was a circle of rocks each with a different symbol on it representing various vocations such as garden fairy or water fairy.  Tinker Bell looked around and then up at the Queen.  The Queen assured Tinker Bell that she would know what her talent was when she came to it.

Tinker Bell began to walk slowly around the circle.   All the symbols were lit up and when she walked over to each one at a time, the light went out.  When she came close to a hammer, it lit up and sparkled and moved right into her hand.  It was the hammer choosing Tinker Bell and Tinker Bell accepting the hammer.  Thus, she became a “tinker” fairy.

The problem was she didn’t like where her new home was, she didn’t like not having the talents that some of the other fairy’s had and she was very disappointed that she would not be able to go to the Mainland during the changing of the seasons because a “tinker’s” work was in Pixie Hollow.  So Tinker Bell became obsessed with learning the talents of the other fairy’s.  But she was not very good at being a water fairy or an animal fairy. It wasn’t until close to the end of the movie (of course) that she realized she LOVED her work and lost herself in it.  Thus, she finally accepted her unique talents and gifts and began using them in a way to help others.  When she did this, her true dream of going to the Mainland happened.

What are your unique gifts and talents that you haven’t shared with the world?  How much longer will you keep them tamped down?  What are you resisting?  I believe the time is now for you to be living your dream and doing work you love while serving others. And once you make a decision and commit to doing work you love, the Universe will support you on your journey.

Positive Quote of the Day:  “Everyone has unique gifts and talents.  What you love is what you’re gifted at.  To be completely happy, to live a completely fulfilled life, you have to do what you love.”  -Barbara Sher

With Love and Light,

Lisa
