Today is the day I turn another year older.  I initially anticipated this birthday with a bit of dread. However, this past week I really took the time to look deep within and realized how blessed I truly am. I also have noticed amazing changes that have been occurring in my inner landscape.  My thoughts and beliefs are being challenged and shifting.  I am remembering to keep things simple and be in the moment more than I did when I was younger. There is an element of vulnerability that is opening up that was not there for me before about how precious life is and the limited time we really do have.  So today I will celebrate this beautiful and zany life of mine.  I will be spending it with my family who means the world to me.  And I could not think of a better way to celebrate this day!

When I turned 30, I remember deciding to celebrate my day by going away with my best friend and my sister.  Every year after that I planned something special for myself that I always wanted to do.  I usually took the day off from work even if I wasn’t traveling.  A friend laughed once and said, “you treat your birthday like it’s a holiday.” Yes, I do.  And yes, it is!

A birthday is a time to celebrate YOU.  This all comes back to the importance of self-love and how we need to take great care of ourselves in order to show up fully and authentically with anyone else.  This year I challenge you to step into your innate power, show up  for yourself fully and celebrate you and your life!  It doesn’t matter what you are doing or where you are in the world.  Choose celebration of life!

The fear of aging is just another limiting belief.  I believe women fear it more than men. We have more at stake it seems. Each birthday is a reminder of where we’ve been and the choices we’ve made so far.  And for most women, they have that tick-tock biological clock ringing in their heads making each birthday loom ahead as if you’re about to crash land an airplane.  And even if it’s not your biological clock, this can occur in other areas as well, such as being promoted at work or being in an industry of work that emphasizes youth and beauty.  It could be a gnawing feeling that you missed some opportunity and you’re filled with regret. Overall, we have more biological and physiological changes that occur that can upset our rhythm.  This is why it’s imperative that we take great care of ourselves so that we are able to make the choices that are for our highest good at each step of our journey.

So let’s change that belief around.  Your birthday is a great time to bless, honor and forgive others from the past and learn from your experiences so you can move forward into a new vision for your life.  It’s a time to let go of the choices you made in the past and honor where you are right now.  It’s a time to decide to make intentions that will lift you to a higher level and take you to realms of possibility you haven’t thought of before. It’s a time to eat cake without the guilt!

But you don’t need to wait until your birthday to do this and celebrate your life.  Start today and begin to celebrate everyday as if it’s your birthday.  Read and absorb the quote by Gloria Steinem and choose to be more radical.  Choose today to make your dreams come true!

This is my birthday wish for all of you!

With Love and Light,

Lisa

Positive Quote of the Day:  “Women may be the one group that grows more radical with age.” -Gloria Steinem
